Urban Discipline 2002

Graffiti-Art Ausstellung in der Bavaria St. Pauli Brauerei, Hamburg

In 2002, the Urban Discipline took place for the last time so far. On ca. 1500 m² exhibition ground in the old Astra brewery in Hamburg, more than 30 artists from all over the world met to give evidence that some Graffiti is different to other Graffiti. The location was just perfect for the exhibition: almost unlimited exhibition grounds, a courtyard allowing to create a giant mural.

The exhibition went beyond the scope of many things: an enormous variety of styles was being showed, mentalities from all over the world met and many projects were realized.
Artists like Zedz from Amsterdam, Banksy from the UK, Stak from France, Nami/La Mano from Spain, Nina, Herbert, Vitche, the Os Gemeos from Brazil and many other from all over the world showed an impressive variety of how Graffiti can be interpreted.
During the exhibition, a big mural was created in the courtyard that almost all of the artists participated in as well as a few guests.

Urban Discipline 2001

Graffiti-Art Ausstellung in der Postsortierhalle am Stephansplatz, Hamburg

In summer 2001, the Urban Discipline 2001 was set for the second time. To gain more space, a new location had been selected and the compound of the team of artists was not going to be the same. At the old post office building at Hamburg`s Stephansplatz, more than 1000 m² were made available to show the works of 22 international artists.

In addition to the stunning works, getting-up was able to convince the well-known photographer Martha Copper to show her legendary pictures from the very beginnings of Hip-Hop and Graffiti culture. Some of the photos had never been on display before and combined with authentic sound collages surely became one of the exhibition`s highlights. More than 100 canvases up to 3.5 m x 3.5 m fascinated the many vistors so much that some even came to see the exhibition more than once.

For that reason also, a catalogue was produced that was sold out in no time.

Urban Discipline 2000

Graffiti-Art Ausstellung in der I-Punkt Halle, Hamburg

After the big success of the Urban Discipline 2000 Graffiti-Art Exhibition in Hamburg in 2000 showing 26 Graffiti artists from the USA, Brazil, England, Switzerland, France and Germany, the decision was made to establish the exhibition as a series.
In a former skating hall, no effort was spared to build hundreds of square meters to be able to present canvases, sculptures and installations to a broad audience. In an open-air gallery, the artists created impressing murals that still can be seen today. The fans were able to test their skills and create some canvases themselves at the workshops.

The catalogue "URBAN DISCIPLINE Graffiti-Art 2000" became a success in Germany and abroad and getting-up decided to edit more of them.
